A leading retailer in Singapore pulled out an entire range of cosmetics centering on a Jesus theme after receiving several complaints from local Roman Catholics.
The range, named Lookin’ Good for Jesus, was on sale at three Topshop outlets in the Asian city state.
The 4th Commandment in the Roman Catholic bible states, “You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God.”
Catholics complained the cosmetics’ marketing was disrespectful, full of sexual innuendo and trivialized Christianity.
About 15% of Singapore’s 4.4 million population is Christian.
The Lookin’ Good For Jesus line of cosmetics and health care products is produced by the US-based company, Blue Q, which seemed unconcerned over this incident and has even posted in their web site, “Banned in Singapore!” while using the Pope’s image to market their shopper bag.

Hall of Fame jockey Jose Santos has settled his libel lawsuit against the Miami Herald over their printed article falsely accusing him of carrying an unauthorized and illegal object in his hand during his Kentucky Derby ride of Funny Cide in 2003.
Kentucky Derby racing officials later concluded jockey Jose Santos was only holding his whip.
Attorneys of both parties said that Jose Santos and the Miami Herald are “pleased” and “satisfied” with the confidential settlement terms.
Jose Santos rode Funny Cide to victories in the 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Funny Cide finished 3rd in the Belmont Stakes behind fresh Empire Maker and Ten Most Wanted, both horses having skipped the Preakness Stakes.
